MEET THE ARTIST
A teacher for nearly 40 years, Laura Zuliani has always dedicated her spare time to feminine hobbies such as sewing, tailoring patterns creation, carving and printing on paper and fabric. By creating real, tangible objects, she was able to escape the frustration that her profession caused. |
Every ending is a new beginning During her last years as a teacher, Laura developed an interest in crystal healing and learnt how crystals can benefit the human body. This is when she started creating jewellery made of semi-precious stones and natural elements.
The never-ending beauty of simplicity Her retirement turned into a new challenge: working with carded wool, a humble material almost forgotten by our frantic society. As stubborn as ever, she got to know the new material - which can be used to make so many things that it’s sometimes hard to pick a direction. Wool can be used to create almost everything: clothing, bags, shoes, hats and even mobile homes for nomads! Wool can be dyed using natural pigments, can be printed using flowers and leaves, can be tied and dyed into geometric patterns and can be shaped in different ways, by using soap and water or a needle. In short, the world of wool offers infinite chances.
The power of the unexpected The last challenge came from a bicycle inner tube. Laura was instantly attracted to this material that she first spotted at the local dump when she visited with the intention of getting rid of her old television! A few months down the line she started creating a fun packed collection comprising of rubber necklaces and bracelets.
And, most likely, this is not the end… |
