I met Stefania at a craft and antique street-market: a very reserved person, she sold antique linen at the stall near mine. We met again at several markets and exhibitions and we eventually became friends: she told me about her life in a big city, about her husband and her sons and daughters, I told her about my garden, my cat Alice and about my journeys.
She loved my jewellery and was pleasantly surprised at my first felt experiments . “I like your creations very much but I could not wear them - I generally wear very simple garments” she used to say while browsing among my new articles.
Soon she announced the marriage of her daughter with a young man in the public eye: she had to get ready for this important event! I was astonished when she asked me to make a necklace for her: “I trust you and I am sure you can make something suitable for me” she said laughing and crying at the same time while telling me about the happy event. I slogged away for a few days and, in the end, an idea came to my mind: a square necklace! Made with small precious stones in neutral colours. Her eyes were glittering when she saw the prototype!
